Original Yanks Rehearsals

The Original Yanks have rehearsals on Sunday evenings starting in January up until the parade season starts, typically in mid-May. The Corps practice at the Antwerp, NY American Legion Post 916 and practice starts at 6pm and generally ends around 9pm.

The Drum and Horn lines start practice in the winter months, as they can practice inside, but the Color Guard doesn't generally start practice until the weather breaks in the North Country, typically in early April.

Rudiments and cadences are practiced by the Drum Line for the first 2 months. New recruits are taught the basics, and are evaluated for the instrument that bests suits them and the needs of the Corps.

The Horn Line will start any new songs that are picked out by the music committee the previous fall, and older tunes are worked on as well. If a new recruit has little experience with playing a bugle, a more experienced Corps member will be assigned to them to get them oriented and trained to learn a instrument.
